Each year on the third Saturday of June, in collaboration with the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO), we seek volunteers to help clean up Little Beaver Creek. The 2010 River Sweep in Little Beaver Creek is scheduled for Saturday June 19th. See the main page for more information, |

The Bee-Hive Coke Ovens site in Leetonia, OH is on the national register of historic places. The site contains 205 ovens but it is in a state a decline due to vegetation and water draining out of the nearby deep mine. Restoration is needed to preserve this historic site. |

The Lisbon Community Gardens Project began in the Spring of 2009. The gardens are open to the public and support local food and nutrition programs within Lisbon. In 2010 the Community Garden Project was taken over by a local Cub Scout Troop. |

The Little Beaver Creek Land Foundation is working with 15 area organizations called the Coalition of Columbiana County Conservation Partners. Working together to promote conservation and education the LBCLF participated in the first ‘Explore the Outdoors with Your Family Because Time Together Counts’ in August, 2008. It had lots of fun educational activities for the whole family to explore soil, water, wildlife, and outdoor recreation. The event was held again in August 2009. The next scheduled “Explore the Outdoors” event will be on August 14th, 2010 from 10 am to 4 pm. Bring the whole family! |

The Little Beaver Creek Land Foundation has partnered with the Columbiana County Parks District to reforest a strip-mined section of publicly owned land. On April 18th, 2009 volunteers planted 3,500 Hardwood seedlings on a section of strip mine land that is now part of a new public park called Hellbender Bluff Stay tuned for more information about the next tree planting event. |

The Land Foundation and other organizations within the Little Beaver Creek Watershed commonly hold clean ups of different areas to remove trash that often finds it way into the waterways. Examples are the Greenway Bike Trail Clean Up, River Clean Ups (like River Sweep), Highway Cleanups on roads that run along the waterways, and Dump Site Clean Ups. Volunteers are always needed for these clean up efforts. Check the calendar below for upcoming Clean Up events. |
